EDUCATION in INDONESIA

Basically the Indonesian education system falls into 3 main parts which are, primary (elementary), secondary and tertiary. In Indonesia, there have been many cases that the teachers are hopeless to educate the student, so they use hard punishment to educate the naughty student. Beside that the difference between public and private schools are so distant, not only in the fee but also in the effectiveness.
To finish the primary educational level in Indonesia, students have to spend six years, then they continue to secondary level for six years. The secondary level is divided into 2 which are Junior and senior high school. After finishing those 2 steps, the student can make choices to carry on to university with their favorite majors or to stop their education and find job. It will be much better, if Indonesia can follow the International education system which only needs 4 years to finish the secondary level, and only takes 2 years in the tertiary or university level. Beside that the major that can be chose in Indonesia is not too specific as in international university. To be more effective the subject that learnt must also be deduct, so the student will only learn the important subject.
There are many bad cases that involve teacher and student relationship, especially in interior areas in Indonesia. The teacher gives hard punishment to the naughty student, but sometime the punishment is too hard or rude. Therefore, the government and the private school must be selective when choosing teacher to teach in their school. The teacher must have the best ability to teach and have good moral. So there will be no more violence in school and parents do not feel disadvantage on the money that they have spend to finance their children`s education.
In Indonesia the schools itself were divided into 2 types, public and private school. Public school is the school which subsidized by the government and the fee usually cheaper than private school. There are no facilities that sufficient in public school, because of the fee in public school is cheap or in several of public schools is free. In contraction to the public school, the private schools are very expensive and have many facilities to support their student to be more creative and more excited to learn.
To improve Indonesia education system, the government should give real rules to the school to choose the teacher, the subject that must be learn by the student in each level. There also must be a standard to every school about their facilities, the curriculum, and score. The public School should improve their quality, so many parents will not hesitate to give their children to study in public school. If the education system in the Indonesia can be improve, that will decrease the student that study aboard and there also will be a big possibilities that many student from other countries study in Indonesia.
